How it works
What a school day actually looks like.
Five lessons, a teaching team available all day, and a single page your child opens each morning with everything they need on it.
The day
Three live lessons, two independent
Times follow the published weekly schedule. Nothing has a hard deadline.
Lesson 1: Core subject, taught live
Live lessonA real teacher, a small group, and a lesson that adapts as it goes. Tasks are differentiated, so students pick the level they are confident at rather than all doing the same worksheet.
Lesson 2: Second core subject
Live lessonMath, science, reading and writing rotate through the week on the published schedule.
Lesson 3: Third core subject
Live lessonEvery live lesson is recorded as it happens and lands in your resources folder the same day.
Lesson 4: Independent subject work
Resources-basedLanguages, social studies, business, computer science, art, and design and technology. Presentations, resources and worksheets to work through at their own pace — not live, and no deadline. (In 3rd–4th grade, history and geography are taught live instead.)
Lesson 5: Second independent subject
Resources-basedThe teaching team is available all day for questions on any of it, through the whiteboard software.
The software
Where the lesson actually happens
Many online schools run lessons as a conference call. Ours run on a collaborative whiteboard, and the difference shows up in how much the teacher can see.
Not a video call
Students work on a shared canvas rather than watching a screen share. The teacher can see what every student is writing, live, and step in on the one who has gone wrong without stopping the class.
Class, group and solo work in one lesson
A teacher can move the room between whole-class teaching, small-group tasks and independent practice without anyone leaving or rejoining anything.
Resources flow both ways
Worksheets come down, finished work goes up, and all of it stays saved. Which is also how the daily work archive gets built.
Open all day, every day
Students can go back in outside lesson time to finish something or ask for feedback. The teaching team answers there too.
Progress
You should never have to ask how it is going.
This is the part of homeschooling parents worry about most: losing the sense of whether a child is actually keeping up. Five things are included in every plan to answer it.
Live lesson feedback
Teachers give feedback during the session, as the work happens.
Feedback on request, any time
You or your child can ask for feedback through the software outside lesson hours, and get it.
A daily archive of their work
Everything your child produces is saved, so you can look through it whenever you want rather than waiting for a report.
Monthly curriculum and progress reports
Grades, strengths, areas for development and a suggested action plan — against targets you set at the start.
Certificate and signed transcript
Included in every plan, and the thing most families need when they move on to a college or a school.
